I have several dynamic and interactive presentations that reflect my expertise. They are as follows:

Black Women in Popular Culture ($2500) – Where are the Black women in popular culture? What contributions have Black women made to the American cultural landscape? How have Black women told stories using film, music, photography, documentaries and web series? How is new media shaping contemporary storytelling?

A Renaissance of Black Women in Film and Television ($2500) – Shonda Rhimes, Mara Brock Akil and Oprah Winfrey are all powerful women in both television and film. With the rise of Ava Duvernay’s AFFRM movement and the release of “Beyond the Lights” by Gina Prince Bythewood we are witnessing a veritable renaissance in Black women in film and television. Is this work sustainable and what does the future hold of Black women in film and television?

Surviving and Thriving at Work for Women of Color ($3000) – Black women are the most educated segment of US Society. By 2050, Women of color will be the majority in the US. Women of Color are making strides in education, policy, and in positions of leadership. However we must also navigate tropes, stereotypes and biases in the workplace so that you can flourish and thrive.

The Limits and Benefits of Teaching Girls and Women to Code ($2,000) – How do we make sense in the rise of initiatives advocating for women and girls to learn to code? Is it reasonable to ask women and girls to integrate an industry that has been relatively hostile to their presence? Why is there more of a focus on women learning to code as opposed to women gaining access to venture capital funds. These questions are explored as well as some ideas about what the future may look like for women in web development.

Empowerment and Leadership for Young Women of Color ($1,700) – According to Center for American Progress women of color will make up fifty-three percent of the overall population of women in the United States. In light of women’s educational attainment from elementary school through grad school it is important to think through what the future of leadership will look like in the US in light of these cultural and demographic changes?  What can be done now to further accelerate the cultivation of leadership within the sphere of business, local politics and national electoral politics?

Marketing and Publishing on Amazon and Beyond Workshop ($2,000) – Have you written a book? Well the easy part is over. Marketing is the challenging part. In this work shop we will cover building an online platform to communicate with your community, the importance of newsletters and in person meet and greets, the significance of libraries and the politics of collaborating with other writers to promote your work.

Using Art to Teach Social Change in the Classroom ($2,000) –  Social change in the United States is littered with tremendous sacrifices of many people, some famous some not so famous. I will use my experience as a Black Studies Instructor and a Women’s Studies Instructor to share key tips on getting young people excited about the histories of social change. The goal is to get students to understand that, in the words of June Jordan, “we are the ones we’ve been waiting for.”
