Renina Jarmon is college instructor, author and doctoral student. Her graduate studies specifically focus on the politics of Black women’s digital story-telling archives and the political ecosystems of the internet. Currently, she is studying gender, race and sexuality in the media and she teaches Introduction to Women’s Studies, Black Culture in the US and Black Women in Popular Culture.

She has been featured in NYLON magazine, The ROOT, and Clutch mag online.

Renina Jarmon is college instructor, author and doctoral student. Her graduate studies specifically focus on the politics of Black women’s digital story-telling archives and the political ecosystems of the internet. Currently, she is studying gender, race and sexuality in the media and she teaches Introduction to Women’s Studies, Black Culture in the US and Black Women in Popular Culture.

As a veteran blogger she has written about race, gender, feminism and sexuality in pop culture. She has written on her own blog New Model Minority for ten years, been a contributor at the blog Racialicious since 2008 and was a member of the Crunk Feminist Collective blog from 2010-2013 . Renina has been invited to speak at several institutions and organizations about topics such as gender, race and blogging including the Princeton University, The University of the District of Columbia, Barnard Center for Research on Women, The WESTAF Symposium on the ARTS, Words, Beats and Life and Art Sanctuary’s Annual Writing Festival in Philadelphia. Her work has also been highlighted in The Root.com, Ms. Magazine and the San Francisco Examiner.

Children’s Book Bio

Renina is author of the critically acclaimed book Niama’s Adventures. Niama’s Adventures features five year old Niama. She travels to Harlem, she swims underneath the bay bridge with mermaids and she also visits Egypt.  Niama’s Adventures is available directly signed from Renina and on Amazon. When Niama travels at night she feels magical and free. She wants you to feel free too! Renina has long loved children’s books. She was intentional about making a book about about courageous little girl who uses her imagination.
